That phrase scrolled across my mind this morning while I sat in meditation. I have been hosting my own upscale pity party for the past few days. In my last post, you may remember I was engaged. Well, now I’m married and will deliver a baby girl in June!
This past year has been an incredible but intense year of change. In the midst of it, I started to settle within a defeated mindset and stop taking steps towards living out more of my dreams.
Since I was 14, I had the desire to be an influential businesswoman: Rebuilding communities, empowering families to dream and live the life they want, and be able to “pay it forward”, blessing others along the way.
Honestly, since I’ve been serving with my church, I have been able to do a healthy chunk of that, yet something is still missing. I thought, well I’ll just wait until this works out or until that comes through. If Oprah, Magic Johnson, Barbara Corcoran, Warren Buffet, Mindy Kaling or _________ (insert your role model) waited, they would not be where they are today.
Time stops for no one. “If it is to be, it’s up to me.” Don’t let fear of the unknown hold you back. I’ve done many things afraid and once I did, fear went away. Sometimes you have to confront fear square in the face!
“Just because you feel fear doesn’t mean you can’t do it. Do It Afraid!“ Joyce Meyers
So, let’s reflect:
What have you been putting off that you really want to do?
Why haven’t you started?
What do you truly believe about yourself?
What negative thoughts or beliefs have you been holding onto?
Name a time where you did something afraid? How did you feel afterward?
Who can help you stay accountable to your dreams?
